Korean

Korean is the official language of both North Korea and South Korea. The genealogical classification of the Korean language is debated, as some linguists place it in the Altaic language family, while others consider it to be a language isolate. Furthermore, the Koreans borrowed a huge number of Chinese words, gave Korean readings and/or meanings to some of the Chinese characters and also invented about 150 new characters, most of which are rare or used mainly for personal or place names.
